What if the buildings of the Bartók District could power not only our homes, but also the life of the neighbourhood – with solar energy produced on their own rooftops?
This is what an energy community makes possible: when residents, buildings and organisations join forces to use and share locally produced renewable energy – such as electricity generated from solar panels. In this way, both the energy and the income stay in the neighbourhood, while the supply becomes cleaner, safer and more predictable for everyone.
We can be proud that the Bartók District is one of eight European Urban Living Labs where the Co-PED project model is being tested in practice.
The Bartók District’s rich cultural and community life provides an ideal setting to show that energy produced on rooftops can connect residents with the everyday life of ground-floor cultural spaces, cafés and offices – so the neighbourhood can quite literally live from shared energy.
On October 29, we’ll discuss this at KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre:
👉 How does an energy community work in Hungary?
👉 What are the benefits for residents and ground-floor businesses?
👉 Presentation of the Community Energy Service Provider
👉 The Jurányi House energy community
👉 What can interested buildings do if they want to join?
🎙️ Ágnes Szalkai-Lőrincz (MTVSZ)
🎙️ Viktória Rozgonyi-Kulcsár (Jurányi House)
🎙️ Levente Polyák (Co-PED, Cooperative City)
🎙️ Kíra Kőrösi (KÉK)
After the talks, join us for an informal networking session with refreshments.
Come along if you’d like to see how solar energy can become a shared community cause – and how we can build a greener, more self-sufficient and more connected Újbuda together!
